Job Title: Graduate Assistant – Athletics Communication

Position Purpose:
The Graduate Assistant Athletics Communication position is responsible for contributing to the overall success and operations of the athletic department while providing support for the athletics communication department. This includes fostering spiritual, academic and athletic growth. This position supports the Director of Athletics and Administrative staff in fulfilling the mission and vision of NCU athletics and enhancing the overall experience and well-being of student-athletes. Athletics communication at North Central aims to support the recruitment and retention of student-athletes, informing and engaging a wide variety of constituent groups regarding news, contests, and other information pertaining to the athletics department and the university. This position will be given responsibility to work independently as the primary sport liaison for multiple sports while also contributing to the athletics communications team in its overall efforts to achieve objectives and goals.

Requires a completed Bachelor’s degree with acceptance into one of the graduate programs at North Central University

Position Description:

- Responsible for comprehensive website management, including updating schedules/results, rosters, writing game recaps, and feature stories.
- Oversee statistics preparation and post-game procedures, including the communication of appropriate electronic files and box scores to visiting coaches/staff and media outlets.
- Coordinate video hardware and software processes for game day streaming.
- Train and supervise applicable student employee staff when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with conference office staff and counterparts at coordinating institutions as required by UMAC bylaws.
- Operate in compliance with all NCAA and rules and regulations.
- In coordination with the athletics communication’s director, develop an ongoing social media strategy to promote the athletics department and its varsity sports programs.
- Perform team media days and prospective recruit photoshoots including assistance in photography, videography, and social media.
- Create applicable graphics for social media, web, and print use.
- Serve as a mentor to student-athletes, promoting spiritual development, leadership, and personal growth.
- Holiday and summer hours as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Athletics Communication’s Director and/or Director of Athletics.

Qualifications:
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Ability to communicate the mission and vision of North Central University to prospective student-athletes.
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule including working weekends, evenings, and campus holiday hours, including summer.
- Organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Ability to operate a computer.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work well with a variety of diverse personalities and departments.
- Knowledge of athletics, physical education, and recreation with insights as they relate to present trends and society.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a background check upon hire and periodically during employment.

- Working environment involves work in an urban, Christ-centered university.
- Requires travel for games and events, both indoor and outdoor and university-related activities.
- Requires dynamic day-to-day tasks and responsibilities.
Tools and Equipment:
- Position involves the use of multiple technologies including computer and its software.
- Use of standard office equipment.
- May require training and certification as needed.
